I’m riding to beat cancer
I'm reaching out to you today with a message close to my heart and our family's journey through the harrowing battle against cancer. As many of you may know, cancer has woven its way into the fabric of our lives, bringing both sorrow and triumph, but through it all, we've remained steadfast in our fight.
Our journey began in 2005 with the brave struggle of my Nan, Shirley, who battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia with unwavering courage. Her resilience and determination are a testament to the embodiment of what it means to be a cancer survivor. Â
However, the shadow of cancer cast its long reach over our family once again with the loss of my Uncle Todd in 2015 to Malignant Granular Cell Sarcoma. His absence is a constant reminder of the urgency of the fight against this relentless disease.
Again, in 2016, our family was exposed to the tragic lethality of cancer, when we said goodbye to my Aunty Tonia after her fight against Leiomyosarcoma. Her indomitable spirit lives on in our memories, driving us to continue to support all avenues of cancer research.
Just as we thought the impact of this horrible disease could stretch no further, my Mum Jodie was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2022. Mum emerged victorious in her battle against cervical cancer in 2023. Her triumph serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that with proper support and research, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
Currently, our family stands alongside my Uncle Tony as he bravely confronts prostate cancer.
As we prepare to embark on the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research, I invite you to join our journey. Together, we can make a difference by supporting the Perkins Institute’s vital research initiatives aimed at finding better treatments, improving early detection, and ultimately, living in a world where cancer is non-lethal.
Your generous donation will not only honour the memory of those we've lost but also provide hope for those currently fighting and pave the way for a brighter, cancer-free future for generations to come.
Please consider contributing to our fundraising efforts for the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins. Every dollar brings us one step closer to our goal and one step closer to a world without cancer.
