I'm riding for Linda and to give hope to others by paying it forward

I'm sure there isn’t a single person I know that hasn’t been touched by cancer. Whether it’s through a loved one, friend, family member or it’s much more personal, cancer is a terrible burden.

Having lost my first wife Carol-Lyn to breast cancer in 2011, my wife Linda & I were rocked in 2020 when she was diagnosed with HER-2 positive breast cancer. Linda endured 15 months of surgery and intensive treatments, much of which was made possible by years of painstaking research by dedicated professionals, just like the brilliant brains at WA's very own Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. The WA researchers at the Perkins are committed to finding answers faster and developing ground-breaking treatments for the hardest to treat cancers.

2024 will be my 4th year of fundraising, training and cycling 200km's from Perth to Mandurah and return, as part of the MACA Cancer 200 Ride For The Perkins. This is the largest fundraising ride event of its kind in Australia, and all funds raised go towards helping the Perkins achieve what it wants to achieve - to make cancer a non-lethal illness.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing!

Fortunately, I’m not doing it alone. There’s a growing group of riders who return year after year to this ride, just like my fellow Ortho Sistas team members. They do so not only because it’s lifechanging but because the event feels like a big reunion - where all the guests are the family you love!

I’d be so grateful for your support.

If you can’t join me (I’d love the company), please give generously to my fundraising page or attend our fundraising event later in 2024.

Together, we can help make cancer history.
