Only 5 weeks to go!

It’s always hard asking for support time and again, but cancer diagnoses never take a break and cancer never stops impacting lives; the need to raise funds for life-saving medical research therefore never ends.   

Every day someone’s friend, sister, child, auntie, brother, father, mother, uncle, or colleague is diagnosed with this monstrous disease.

I constantly give thanks that I survived my fight with cancer and riding in this event for the last 13 years is my way of doing something tangible and positive so that many others may enjoy the same outcome as me.  It would be too easy to feel helpless otherwise.

Maybe that’s why I set myself such a challenging fundraising goal to achieve. 

This year, I’ve committed to personally raising $15,000

…and I’m well on the way there

but I need your help please on the final stretch.

With just 5 weeks left until the ride, I’m about $3,000 short of my goal.

Being a reverse engineer from way back, that means I either need 30 people to donate $100 or 60 people who’ll donate $50 each. 

Alternately, if you have a business, you may like to donate $500, in return for which I will have a car decal created with your logo, so that you can sponsor my official ride vehicle throughout the two days of the ride on 04 – 05 October.   At each stop along the way (and there’s one every 20km), I’ll do a social media post for you, including live video, so that everyone knows of your support. 

And if there is some other way, apart from social media and signage, by which I can thank you - a way that you would find of true value - please let me know.  After doing the "Full Monty" a couple of years ago, I assure you there's very little I wouldn't do to raise money for this cause or demonstrate my appreciation to those who support me!

In the thirteen years I’ve been riding, I’ve personally raised more than $95,000 in the pursuit of cancer research for The Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research.  This year will push me over the $100,000 – mark, and my commitment is to ride these 200kms for as many years as my legs will turn the pedals.  This is my cause and I’ll always be there doing my bit.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer has taken so much from us. Whether it is a loved one, family member, friend or closer to home, cancer is relentless.

I want to put a stop to cancer by riding 200kms to raise vital funds for cancer research right here in WA.

The funds I raise will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to !nding breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those aected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.

Hearing the words “it’s cancer” is heart-wrenching. But with Perkins researchers, I am determined to eliminate the fear and uncertainty that cancer brings.

On Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October 2024, I will pedal alongside my fellow riders who share the dream of making cancer non-lethal. Your support can turn this dream into reality.
