Pedal for the moments stolen
Hello everyone,
I may not be a cycling enthusiast (in fact I am far from it), but on 12 and 13 October I’ll be taking on the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins cycling event. I'll be pushing myself beyond my limits over two days and 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research.
At age 28 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Unbeknownst to me, cancer had already taken a decade-long hold, spreading to 39 lymph nodes. Suddenly, I found myself navigating life without a thyroid, enduring endless blood tests, scans, treatments and the agonising wait for results.
Today, I pedal for every moment stolen by this relentless disease. This event is not just a challenge of endurance for me, it's a beacon of hope. It's about turning personal struggle into collective strength, raising crucial funds for cancer research that could transform lives like mine.
Riding beside me is a friend who takes on the MACA200 for the second time in honour of his mother, Kerry Prka, who fought ovarian cancer for six years. The strength and bravery Kerry carried throughout her battle fuels my determination.
With your support, we can fund ground breaking research that brings us closer to a cure, sparing others the uncertainty and fear that has defined my last four years.
Please join me on this journey. Every contribution matters.
Thank you for standing with me and for those who fight this battle every day.
Thank you
Ella J
