I’m riding to beat cancer

There isn’t a single person I know that hasn’t been touched by cancer.  I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in September 2021, and at this point, so far so good.  Thanks to the advances in breast cancer treatments, my prognosis was good from the get go.  Which is just not the same for everyone.  I recently lost a good mate to an aggressive and rare cancer, who went from diagnosis to death in 6 months, aged 53.

The reality of actually being diagnosed with cancer is so much more than you can imagine. It’s not like you get a diagnosis and prognosis on the same day. The stress and anxiety you endure going through scans and tests and meetings and waiting, waiting, waiting for information is next level stressful. Your mind never forgets that you have just found out you have cancer and every waking moment is consumed with fear of what’s going to happen.

In 2024, I’m taking a “ride” against cancer and backing the brilliant brains at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

These WA researchers are committed to finding answers faster and developing ground-breaking treatments for the hardest to treat cancers.

Because I live in fear of that next scan, and no one should have to hear those words, “It’s cancer.”

Along with other family members we are training, fundraising and riding 200km to support WA cancer research.

I’d be so grateful for your support.

Please give generously to my fundraising page.

Together, we can help make cancer history.
