Why I ride!

It's simple, I ride because I can.

I am healthy and fit and riding for a cause keeps me motivated to stay that way. I love belonging to a community that shares stories and supports each other, on my toughest days I am constantly inspired by friends and family who have lost loved ones to Cancer and continue to ride, educate others and raise money so that other families may not suffer the same loss.

I have lost two close girlfriends to cancer, one of them a fellow rider, and turning my mind to what I can do and channeling the grief from my loss into something positive helps me heal. Research Trials gave Carol extra time with her family, she watched her daughter graduate, her son get married and found out she was going to be a Nan before leaving us. None of this would of been possible without research.

I also have many friends that have battled cancer and won, without research they may not be here today, I am forever grateful that they are here still and a part of my life. That they are with their families still, enjoying their children and in some cases their grandchildren and living life to the fullest.

The community that this ride has built around me is one I will treasure forever, from local businesses, my team mates, our support crew and family and friends who donate items, make cakes, sponsor, donate money and attend our events every year. Without you none of this would be possible.

This year our team will be riding for the 8th year, we have raised to date a whopping $390,165.23, and we are hoping to make this total $500,000.00 by the end of this year.

Together we can make a difference and the last 8 years have proven this time and time again.

I’m riding to beat cancer

There isn’t a single person I know that hasn’t been touched by cancer. Whether it’s through a loved one, friend, family member or it’s much more personal, cancer is a terrible burden.

In 2022, I’m taking a stand against cancer and backing the brilliant brains at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

These WA researchers are committed to finding answers faster and developing ground-breaking treatments for the hardest to treat cancers.

Because no one should have to hear those two life-altering words, “It’s cancer.”

I’m training, fundraising and riding 200km to support WA cancer research. But I’m not doing it alone, there’s a growing group of riders who return year after year to this ride. They do so not only because it’s lifechanging but because the event feels like a big reunion - where all the guests are the family you love!

I’d be so grateful for your support.

If you can’t join me (I’d love the company), please give generously to my fundraising page.

Together, we can help make cancer history.
