So far so good

How’s it going you ask? So far so good! Feeling up beat and optimistic! No where near buns of steel yet, more like maybe buns of lead -Heavy, soft and malleable or perhaps hot cross buns! -A little misshapen and close to their use by date (until stocks are replenish in early October ).

This afternoon I had a chat with fellow rider Bryn. He has done the ride 7 times and in the process raised an incredible amount for Harry Perkins Institute. He’s given me lots of top tips and also the stark reminder that when you’re not cycling on a stationary bike indoors, there are hills that you can’t switch off and headwind. Dang it! headwind! I forgot about headwind! Ahh well I’ll just have to pretend I’m in an advert for luxury hair products. Flick swish!

Massive thanks to the donators given so far,. Thanks to my lil sis, Christine, anonymous, Jill and Sean. Not only are you donating to a cause that will help so many. But as an added bonus these donations encourage me to get training and get on the bike!

Spin spin sugar!

I’ve started spin class again. I love spin. I can spin around 16k in a class. The logical  projectory from cycling 16k on a stationary bike in a darkened room in Wanneroo is to sign up for a 200k bike ride to Mandurah and back same/ same right? I’m glad we are in agreement cause that’s what’s happening people!

Will I reclaim the buns of steel sculpted by the lack of a drivers licence and the hills of Roleystone 15 years ago? Will I raise enough money for The Harry Perkins Institute to confirm my spot on the ride?  I hope so!

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

On Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October 2025, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
