100 km down. Just another 100 km to go…

Last weekend I rode 100 km from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, also to raise money for cancer research. It was a great ride. The weather was kind, the legs held up, and I finished feeling pretty pleased with myself.

Then I woke up the next morning.

My first thought was: There is absolutely no way I could possibly riding another 100 km today. Which is slightly concerning, given that next month I’ll be doing exactly that. 200 km over two days.

Apparently, I’ve signed myself up for a challenge where the recovery strategy is simply to keep going.

The more I thought about that point, the more that discomfort I felt started to put things into perspective. Sore legs, a tired body and the prospect of another long day on the bike are pretty minor problems in the grand scheme of things.

For people fighting cancer, and for the families and friends alongside them, there isn't a finish line you can simply ride towards and call it done. Their challenge is bigger, harder and far more important than anything I’ll ever experience on a bike. The recovery strategy really is to keep going, keep fighting.

So, when my legs start complaining deep into day two, I’ll be sure to remember why I’m riding. And if that doesn't work, I’ll probably just tell them to shut up and keep pedalling.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
