It's all got personal!

On the 4th & 5th of October 2025, I will be riding 200km to help raise desperately needed funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. 

I signed up in 2024 because my mum had been diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2023.  I thought that the ride would be a nice way to show solidarity and raise some well needed funds for an amazing charity in WA. 

Fast forward to 2025, and it all got very real and very personal, very quickly.

Cancer sadly took my mum at the end of May  2025 after a swift (thankfully so - with the benefit of hindsight) deterioration following radiotherapy and chemo.   

So, I will now be pedalling out each kilometre to honour her memory.

The funds I raise will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to finding breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those affected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.  From my personal experience, these breakthroughs give families extra time together.

Hearing the words “it’s spread” is heart-wrenching. But with Perkins researchers (and the whole of the scientific community across the globe), I believe that we can eliminate the fear and uncertainty that cancer brings make the dream of making cancer non-lethal a reality. 

My family and I were lucky to have been supported by some amazing medical professionals and charities this year.
