First Training Ride
First, thank-you to John and Kia for their donation. It all adds up so very much appreciated.
And Kia, thanks for the extra challenge. I will take it up; I'll sing the whole 'Sweet Transvestite' during one of my training runs; sans fish-net stockings. I'll get my GoPro ready.
All the donations are motivating me even more, so keep them coming. My training plan is to get fit over the next 2-months, then hit it as hard as I can for a month, then bring it back a notch and maintain my fitness for the month leading up to the ride.
Let me know if you have any suggestions for my training that will make sure I do you all proud.
It takes a long time to turn a big ship, and a big ship I am. First I'll thank my sisters, Rosie and Marylin to adding to the donations, plus my brother-in-law Neb. Very much appreciated.
Back to the big ship. I've put on close to 25 kg over the past three years, so the next 20 weeks is also about my own health. First step is to get my eating habits right and start to lose some weight, no use lugging that 200 kms.
I will do a couple of short rides this week (so look out for my STRAVA feed). I'll then plan my training with my insanely fit sister, Marilyn, when I'm with her next week.
I'll check-in again soon.
Let's get this going!
Thanks to all those that have donated so far. Voula, Pat, John, big sis Rosie, the McCord family from the music school, and to that anonymous donor, it's all much appreciated.
I've linked up the Strava App to the page so that you get to see how my training goes. I'll have to get started soon, only 20 weeks to go.
Quoting Dale, it's about to get real.
I'm challenging myself for cancer research
Everyone has been touched by cancer sometime in their lives. Whether the diagnosis is a loved one, family member or it’s much, much more personal, cancer is a terrible burden.
This year, I am joining over 800 riders in a 2-day, 200km bike ride to raise funds for cancer research right here in WA at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
I am training and fundraising in the lead up to the event. I'd love your support. If you can't join me (I'd love the company), please give generously to my donation page.
Please help me, help the Perkins.
