My Ride

I am riding for my best friend, aka Grandpa. This photo was taken in 2017, on the way to the airport as I moved to Australia. I didn’t know it then, but it would be the last time I saw him. Just one week later, cancer took him from us.

As soon as I learnt to walk, grandpa got me a bike and that moment began a lifelong love of bikes – from training wheels on a mocha-colored bike, to the triumphant day the wheels came off (despite the strict “don’t let go!” instructions), and later the big red “grown-up” bike that celebrated a school milestone. My happiest childhood summers were spent riding through the countryside near our holiday house, collecting memories and plenty of scraped knees along the way 😁.

Grandpa was my personal rockstar. Losing him taught me the hardest lesson – how to carry the love while letting go of the pain. My only regret is that his final months were consumed by the fight: hospitals, treatments, and chasing miracles. I wish we’d had more time to simply be together – sharing his favorite ice cream, sipping his signature Earl Grey, or just watching odd winter sports side by side.

This year, I’m riding 200km in his honor with Team ALTRAD – raising funds for cancer research and supporting others going through the same battle. My hope is that this contribution makes the journey feel a little less like a fight, and leaves more time for what matters most.

If you’d like to support my ride, I’d be so grateful. Every donation brings us closer to the $2,600 goal for cancer research – and helps create more time, more love, and more life.

💜 See you on the other side of 200k.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

On Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October 2025, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
