5 inspirational places to Ride

Western Australia is blessed with great weather, superb shared paths and amazing scenery. This year you can choose how to ride 200kms in your MACA Cancer Challenge and we have picked 5 top rides to get you planning.

With 22 km of roads, no cars except the police van and tourist bus, this is heaven. Riding out to the Cape Vlamingh lookout or sneaking a swim at Little Parakeet Bay is very Rotto. The full road loop is 22 km so 5 times will get your 100 in a day. The Bakery is open till 4pm, and the sun set happens every day.

Avon Valley

90 Km west of Perth is some of the quietest roads with quaint towns and rolling countryside. York in the centre is a heritage town with the York Motor Museum and cafes. Head 30 km south to Beverley for the bakery, art deco town hall and gliding at the airfield. Going north 35 km is Northam with more heritage listed buildings, a little more buzz and only 30 km to Toodyay. The roads are quiet, Country drivers pleasant and the scenery everchanging.

Margaret River

Margaret River is wine country. There are roads criss-crossing the region and the rugged coastline is full of destinations. The Old coast Road with its winding magic gives access to pit stops like Gracetown, Hamelin Bay and Yallingup. For a peaceful family ride the Dunsborough to Busselton bike path along the coast is perfect.

Perth Hills

Kalamunda Zig Zag, Darlington and the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail are the gateway to Perth’s Hills. Beyond the city views, the Mundaring Weir beckons with fast descents and small valleys. Around every corner another view of nature in full bloom. A day trip from Perth to Darlington, then Mundaring Weir and home via the zig Zag is 90km. A great day in the saddle.
