I’M RIDING IN MEMORY OF My Friend, Issaka Juma

Please help me raise funds and support my cause.

In memory of someone who touched me.

I'm riding in honour of Issaka Juma. Issaka wasn't someone I knew well. I only knew him from church but when I heard words about him, I was certain of who I wanted to dedicate this year's ride to.
I only know him from short conversations and the presence he, his wife and two daughters brought every Sunday, while he was still healthy.  I do this ride to honour those who have passed and to give support to those affected by cancer and their loved ones.
Below is the tribute from his celebration of life. Like Issaka, may we all fight the good fight until the race is won.  -Darren

Tribute for the Late Issac Juma

Honourable Ministers, Church leaders, families, and friends, good evening.

My name is Pascal NTWARI, one of the servants from Revival Pentecostal Church Welshpool.

On behalf of the family of the late Issac Juma, I stand before you humbled and privileged to deliver this message as shared directly by his beloved wife, Mediatrice Issaka Juma.

We gather here this evening in this sacred place, East Fremantle Baptist Church, to honour and remember a devoted husband, father, and faithful servant of God, who passed away on 24th January 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

During his illness, the specialist doctors at Fiona Stanley Hospital did everything within their professional ability to save his life. The family remains deeply grateful for their dedication, care, and compassion. However, there came a time when it was beyond human control.

Issac endured his sickness for some time, yet throughout that difficult journey, his faith never wavered. Even when his specialist informed him that he would need to wait for his final days in palliative care, as there were no further medical options available to offer him, Issac responded with unwavering conviction. He declared that above all, there is a God who is able to save.

Though medical procedures eventually ceased, Issac never lost hope. He remained steadfast, trusting in God, strong in spirit, and firm in his belief. His faith became a testimony to all who visited him and witnessed his courage.

For Mediatrice and the family, this has been one of the most painful seasons of their lives. Losing a husband, a father, a friend, and a pillar of the family is an immeasurable loss. Yet even in the midst of profound sorrow, they have experienced overwhelming love and support from all of you gathered here today.

From the time Issac fell ill until his final breath, you stood faithfully beside the family. You supported them financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Your prayers strengthened them. Your visits brought encouragement. Your comforting words brought peace. Your generosity eased their burdens.

On behalf of Mediatrice and the entire family, I sincerely thank each one of you for your kindness and hospitality. They will never forget the mercy, compassion, and solidarity you have shown. Your love has been a powerful reminder that they are not walking this journey alone.

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life of Issac Juma — a man who deeply loved his family, cherished his faith, and valued fellowship and friendship. His legacy of resilience, devotion, and unwavering trust in God will remain in our hearts forever.

May Almighty God bless each member of this church abundantly. May He reward you for every act of kindness extended to this family. And may He grant comfort, strength, and peace to all who grieve during this difficult time.

Thank you, and may God bless you all.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
