2025 ended a bit differently, so bring on 2026

Year 9—Done and Dusted!

This year was certainly a different one for me.Nine years ago, I pledged to keep doing this ride for as long as I was physically able. So, on Saturday morning, I set off with our incredible team of riders and support crew—feeling about 70% fit—but determined. My motto: “I may be slow, but I will Just Keep Riding.”

As Kara joked, riding in the rain meant Nemo, Dory & Squirt finally got some water this year 🤣🤣🤣. By the 80km mark, my lungs decided they weren’t built for wind and rain, so I took a break and rejoined the team near the finish line to ride across together. A night of rest and asthma protocol followed—ready for Day 2!

Saturday evening was emotional and proud, with Kara bravely standing before the entire MACA Cancer 200 family to share her story—why she rides beside me every year 💕🚴‍♀️.

Day 2 began with a lovely tailwind, but again, my lungs said “NO.” Another break off the bike, but I met up with my team once more to cross the finish line together.

Huge thanks to all the support I received—from fellow riders, Cranking for Cancer, Booty Butter, COJ Crusaders, Nina, and Carol.

Picking up Sam along the road on day 1, glad to be able to help you out so you could finish the day and hearing your story, welcome to the Perkins Family 👏

Seeing our support crew ( well

Oiled machines) in action from the other side made me appreciate them even more—if that’s even possible. Thank you to my wonderful partner Uji, my amazing friend Lisa, and my daughter-in-law Carissa 💕.

To my family, friends and work colleagues —thank you for your generous donations. You helped me raise a whopping $6,500, earning Honour Roll status this year 🫶.

As of this morning, the Ride community has raised a life-changing $8,224,565 for cancer research.

On behalf of the researchers at the Perkins Institute—thank you for making 2025 an incredible success.

And yes… I’ve signed up again for 2026!!!

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
