Getting There With Great Support
Overjoyed by the fantastic support of late. Initially I thought it was crazy to aim for $10k but my wonderful supporters have shown that anything is possible. Just a little more of a push and I'll be there.I’m riding to beat cancer
Raising money to aid cancer research in an effort to make cancer non-lethal resonates with me. I’ve seen friends, family, and workmates fall victim to this disease. But, I am starting to see more people survive and be able to enjoy life again due to breakthroughs in diagnosis and treatment. That’s part of the reason that I have fundraised for the past eight years to support the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and doing a 200km ride over a weekend (twice in a single day, once solo) for those eight years.
This year, I plan to do something a little different. Something outside of my comfort zone. Something that will challenge me. I’m going to attempt to ride from Fremantle to Sydney over a distance of 5,471km in an UNSUPPORTED event called the Indian Pacific Wheel Ride, or Indipac for short. I’ve taken six weeks of long service leave which I’m hoping will be enough time. This ride has been in the offing for a few years, and I was fully preparing to do it two years ago until a family member required treatment for cancer, successfully, I might add. Assisting with their treatment took me away from training and this silly bike ride took a backseat.

My plan is
to raise $10,000 this year. Hey, why should just riding the bike be the only
challenge?

I’m on the lookout for corporate sponsors who would like their company logo on our community cycling team jersey. Crack Cycling has been fundraising for cancer research for the last 12 years and raised over $740,000 in that time. Not bad for a team of 14~21 riders. Hit me up if you would like details and have two grand to put towards cancer research. Deadline is May 31st.
You can support me by:
a) Making a donation
b) Seeing if your company will sponsor our community cycling team
c) Sharing with your friends, family, and coworkers that you know and support a crazy cyclist
d) All of the above.
Thank you and kind regards,
Mark
P.S. Together, we can help make cancer history.
