My mate, Dave

My mate Dave died of cancer in January 2020.  He was 55 years of age.  Much too young to be taken from his family and friends.
I miss my mate, and I wish that there had been more that could have been done to save him.
I'm hoping that by entering this ride I can help fund the research necessary to find a cure so that in the future there will be more that can be done to save the loved ones of us all.

My Dad, Barry.

Dad died in September 1993.  He was only 56 years old; younger than I am now.  It seemed so unfair at the time and now that I have lived longer than he did, it is even more unfair today. He never had the chance to see his grand kids grow up.

I hope, with your help, we can beat cancer and prevent countless families having to experience the grief and trauma of losing a parent before their time.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. I myself have lost several loved ones to cancer most particularly my father Barry and my very great friend Dave, both of whom sadly passed away in their mid 50's.

So this year, I will be taking a stand against cancer.

On Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October 2025, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
