Riding Alongside Friends, Riding for Families
2026 marks my 13th year riding in support of cancer research. Over that time, I've ridden more than 2,600 kilometres, helped raise over $55,000 for cancer research, and sadly there still isn't a single person I know whose life hasn't been touched by cancer.
Whether it's a parent, partner, child, friend, work colleague or someone much closer to home, cancer continues to impact far too many families. Mine included.
This October, I'll once again be taking on the Cancer 200 Ride to raise funds for cancer research right here in Western Australia through the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
This year, the ride has become even more personal for our team. I'm proud to ride alongside my good mate Ryan Glossip, founder and captain of Lycra What You See (LWYS). Ryan has been one of the Cancer 200's biggest ambassadors over the past five years, inspiring family, friends and colleagues to get involved and support cancer research.
Unfortunately, Ryan was recently diagnosed with Mesothelioma, an incurable asbestos-related cancer. Despite this devastating news, Ryan remains committed to riding this year's event while beginning his treatment journey. His determination, courage and positivity have been an inspiration to everyone around him and serve as a powerful reminder of why cancer research remains so important.
Ryan's diagnosis has brought into sharp focus what this ride is really about – supporting those facing cancer today and helping fund the research that will improve outcomes for those diagnosed tomorrow.
Cancer became deeply personal for my family in July 2018 when Dad lost his battle while undergoing Immunotherapy; a treatment that was considered one of the biggest breakthroughs in cancer treatment and offered hope where little previously existed.
As a family, we were fortunate enough to witness firsthand the benefits of cancer research. The funds raised by people just like you helped support research that gave Dad access to new treatment options. While those treatments couldn't save him, they gave us something incredibly precious – time. Time to create memories, share special moments, and say the things that needed to be said. For that, I will always be grateful.
It's also the reason I continue to ride.
Cancer research changes lives. I've seen it firsthand. Every dollar donated helps researchers continue their life-saving work and gives families hope when they need it most.
So once again, I'm training, fundraising and preparing for another 200 kilometres in the saddle, and I would "wheelie" love your support.
Whether you donate, share my page, or join us on the ride, every contribution makes a difference.
Together, we can beat cancer.
