I LOST MY BROTHER AND MY COUSIN AND I DON'T WANT YOU TO LOSE YOURS
Cancer came into our lives in a big way in 2023 when we lost my 34-year-old marathon running vego cousin Sam to cancer. She was diagnosed as Stage 4 in the middle of training to qualify for Boston and she died within the year. It hit HARD for my older brother, who had been her marathon buddy several times. A cruel twist of fate saw him being diagnosed with cancer within two months after Sam's death and then we lost Dan to this horrific disease less than a year after his diagnosis.Â
I had the honour of supporting him through his fight and spending the last weeks of his life with him. I would do absolutely anything to save anyone else from having to go though what Dan and Sam did and to save anyone else from witnessing what I did.Â
I want to put a stop to cancer by riding 200kms to raise vital funds for cancer research.
The funds I raise will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to finding breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those affected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.
