I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.
Dear Friends and Family,
I’m riding 200 kilometers to raise crucial funds for cancer research in WA. This ride is a tribute to all the families impacted by cancer, including my own.
I ride in memory of my Poppy, taken by lung cancer in 1993, my Nanna Riiel, who lost her battle with bowel cancer in 2017, and my Nanna Caddy, who we lost to bowel cancer in 2022.
But this ride is also about hope.Â
It's for my cousin Angela, who at just three years old, faced the unimaginable. Diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, she bravely endured 18 months of grueling treatment and entered remission. Our relief was short-lived as, before turning five, Angela was diagnosed with leukemia.
Today, against all odds, Angela is celebrating her 20th birthday. She has graduated high school, earned a diploma in beauty therapy, and is now a full-time student at UWA. Her strength and resilience have been a beacon of hope and inspiration.
Now, as my daughter Layla approaches the same age Angela was when first diagnosed, I’m driven to show her that despite life’s challenges, we can always choose to grow, to be better than we were yesterday. This ride is my way of proving that to her.
Every pedal I push is in honour of those we’ve lost and those who continue to fight. Your support, whether by joining the ride or donating to my fundraising page, will make a world of difference.
Together, we can conquer cancer.
