I’m on a mission to defeat cancer!

Cancer has taken so much from us. Whether it is a loved one, family member, friend or closer to home, cancer is relentless.

My personal slogan for each year’s ride is “IT’S PERSONAL” – for me this holds true, as it does for many who participate in this annual event.  It seems in life, we are all touched by Cancer, my father has survived Bowel cancer and living life to the fullest in retirement in NZ, but I had an elderly relative in NZ who lost his battle with cancer and passed away five years ago.  I have also had a Skin Cancer – Melanoma removed from my neck, so count myself extremely lucky in discovering it early enough to do something about it!

I want to put a stop to cancer by riding 200kms to raise vital funds for cancer research right here in WA.

The funds I raise will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to finding breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those affected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.

Hearing the words “it’s cancer” is heart-wrenching. But with Perkins researchers, I am determined to eliminate the fear and uncertainty that cancer brings.

On Saturday 5 October and Sunday 6 October 2025, I will pedal alongside my fellow team mate Adal and many other riders,  who share the dream of making cancer non-lethal. Your support can turn this dream into reality.

Many riders return every year because they know that the funds we raise go back to the Perkins. In fact, it is the 6th year in a row that I ride in this amazing event with Adal.

 It is also a worst kept secret that the Ride is the friendliest cycling charity event in Australia. Why not join me in making a difference?
