29th of Sep - 1000km achieved!!

Yes, Finally done 1000km since started riding!
The past a few rides felt easier and bit more relaxed.
2 more weeks to go.
I think I am so ready for the ride, then I got gout attack!😨
I was feeling a pain in the middle of foot so  didn't think it'scoming. .
Luckily, I don't feel the pain when I ride so I did 60km without the pain.
It was red after the ride but hope it goes away soon!

6th of Sep - Donation goal achieved

Thank you so much for those who donated to support for my ride.
I have now raised more than $4000!
And I am in an Honour roll which is an exclusive club for those who have gone further for cancer research.

However, this is the achievement that we all made. Without your generosity I could not focus for my rides.
We should be proud of the incredible contribution we have made for the cancer research that might save some lives in the future.

I am still seeking some donations so if you are thinking to support my ride, this is a good cause to make yourself proud.

This is not the end, This is just a start!👊🚲

1st of Sep - Fitness activity target achieved!

Since the first ride on the 13th of July I have achieved my target of 500km!

I originally set my target as 200km then realised that is easily achieved and I could do more.
Riding long distance is hard but I feel that riding exercise bike is boring.
Seeing scenery and feeling fresh air is really rewarding.
About a month and bit to go, keep pedaling and get used to the pain!

16th of Aug - Freo ride

It's been raining a lot but not today!
I can't stand riding aerobike at the gym all the time...
So today is the day for a bit more adventure.
Started riding from Optus stadium to Freo then back.
Google map says it just over 50km so shouldn't be too bad.
This time I prepared 4x energy gels for the fuel. Hopefully I won't get too hungry.
Crossing the river to Perth then followed the river to UWA.
The map tells me to go through Karrakatta Cemetery so I visited my partner. Unfortunately her head stone had been removed for engraving so decided to keep going.
Don't miss me too much Uli sayang!
I was feeling pretty good and enjoying going through Cottesloe to North Freo.
However,  until I crossed the bridge to South of river I didn't realise how strong the wind was!
Struggled, very slow pace,  almost blown away,  then luckily the head wind eased at Applecross. 😵‍💫
From Como back to the stadium should be a easy ride but I wasted so much energy riding through the head wind, so I was getting very tired.
But riding through Sough Perth is really rewarding!!
I probably spent 1.5x more time getting back from Freo but 51km in 2:20hr isn't too bad I guess.
I should plan better next time.
To be continued...🚲

8th of Aug - Long ride

So far I have done 3x 40km ride and now I am ready for a long ride.
I decided to ride from my place to North Beach which is 27km ride so will be around 55km over all.

It was bit of stop and go finding the right route following google map, so many intersection crossing but finally got to the beach!
I was enough hydrated but the issue was finding a toilet!!
Riding the coast is really rewarding.
So I decided to take the different route back home but that was very bad idea.
Bumpy road, crossing busy intersections then punctured tyre!
Fortunately I manage to get home before the tyre got flat.
I ended up riding 60km!
I was so tired and hungry not taking enough energy gels also my heart rate zone was in Anaerobic for almost 40% of the time.

I better manage my heart rate zone next time but it was a good learning.

13th of June- First bike ride

I'm set! and the bike is set for the first road bike ride trial.
Still getting used to use the clips.
My legs were struggling but felt good!
Fall over once with failing to unclip the pedals😅
Getting sore neck for keeping head up position. Any good solution for this?
Done 40km ride, avg speed of 23km/h
My legs and bum felt OK after the ride surprisingly.
Will try longer ride next time.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer has taken so much from us. Whether it is a loved one, family member, friend or closer to home, cancer is relentless.

The last 2 years cancer has changes my life completely.

2 years ago I lost my dad to stomach cancer and August last year, I lost my partner Uli to pancreatic cancer.

She was 50yrs old, fit & healthy before she was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer.

So this year, I would like to participating Maca cancer 200 ride to raise funding for cancer research.

It will be a big challenge for me to ride such a long distance and also raising the money.

However, I would like for you all to know that it will hopefully save some lives in the future, and that could be me, you or your loved ones.

Believe me, it is not easy to live with the feeling that you are missing something really important in your life.

The funds I raise will go to the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to nding breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for those aected by the hardest-to-treat diseases.

Hearing the words “it’s cancer” is heart-wrenching. But with Perkins researchers, I am determined to eliminate the fear and uncertainty that cancer brings.

On Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October 2024, I will pedal alongside my fellow riders who share the dream of making cancer non-lethal. Your support can turn this dream into reality.

Whether you join me on the Ride or contribute to my fundraising page, your generous support matters.

Together, we can conquer cancer.
