This Insidious Disease
In my lifetime I have seen both my parents (age 51 and 57), my father-in-law (age 74), two of wife's best friends (51 and 60 (the wife of one of my best mates)), a brother-in-law (age 62), a sister-in-law (age 63) all die with cancer. It is an insidious disease that has impacted our family in a traumatic way.
In Oct 2023 our sister-in law Caroline, and my wife's best friend (wife of one of my best mates) Pauline, died within three weeks of each other.
I completed this ride in 2014 and 2015, mainly to honour my parents. I ride in 2024 to honour all those above - Ken and Margaret Williams, Tony Membrey, David and Caroline Membrey, Sally Myatt and Pauline Harris.
In 2024, I’m taking my stand against cancer and backing the brilliant brains at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
These WA researchers are committed to finding answers faster and developing ground-breaking treatments to treat cancers.
Because no one should have to hear those two life-altering words, “It’s cancer.”
I’m training, fundraising and riding 200km to support WA cancer research. But I’m not doing it alone, there’s a growing group of riders who return year after year to this ride. They do so not only because it’s lifechanging but because the event feels like a big reunion - where all the guests are the family you love!
I’d be so grateful for your support.
If you can’t join me (I’d love the company), please give generously to my fundraising page.
Together, we can help make cancer history.
