Riding for Perth, for my family, and for Kim Piavanini

This October I’ll ride 200 km in the MACA Cancer 200 — Ride for Research. I signed up to make every kilometre count for research here in Perth, but this year the “why” is closer to home than ever.

Why this matters to me now

We’ve got a young family. The late nights, the early mornings, the little hands that grab my jersey when I come back from training and work —this is the season of life where you feel how fragile and precious time really is. I want a future where families like ours face less fear and more hope.

Last month, my friend Kim Piavanini passed away from a horrible cancer. I’ll miss that fella dearly—the laughs, the stories, and the memories we’ve built over the years. I’m riding with Kim in my heart, and for everyone carrying this fight right now. Everyone has a story it how you deal it that defines you ! RIP KIMMY BOY Love Massara Family

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

On Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October 2025, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.
