I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

On the 12^th May 2024 I unfortunately suffered a seizure and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma Cancer. Doctors found 2 brain tumours, as well as tumours in my lung, abdomen, and right kidney. This was an enormous shock to my family, friends and myself. Since finding out this devastating news I have undergone brain surgery to remove a 33mm bleeding tumour and commenced Immunotherapy and Radiation to start treating the other tumours. Within a month of the diagnosis, the second brain tumour had grown 10x the original size but with treatment this regressed to be undetected. This reveals how crucial this treatment is to people like myself, and fingers crossed it will eradicate this disease from my body.

12 months on – despite recovering from heavy treatment I was able to raise $18,821.51 (Team total was $96,000) and finished the 200km ride with our team in October 2024.

Multiple treatments throughout 2024 and currently monthly treatments have successfully prevented the cancer from spreading and treated the tumour in my right kidney while maintaining the remaining tumours in my lung and abdomen; However, recently there was a recurrence tumour in my brain that was successfully removed in April 2025. Due to the location of the tumour (left frontal lobe) the surgery has impaired my mobility in my right arm/hand. After extensive rehabilitation I have regained majority of my movement but still have a long way to go in order to complete this year’s ride.

I can attest that the treatment developed from research like that at the Perkins is making a difference and the helping me survive to spend more quality time with my family and to get back on the bike.

I can’t stress enough for everyone to be vigilant with skin and mole checks and be sun smart and get regular checkups for those in the relevant age groups.
