Carlo Miragliotta

I’M RIDING IN HONOUR OF My Family Member, My wife Sarah, and my sister Tina, both breast cancer survivors and my youngest brother Paul, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2017.

Please help me raise funds and support my cause.

I'm on a mission to defeat cancer.

Hey everyone,
As some of you may have already gathered, I've committed to riding in this year's MACA  Cancer200 bike ride to raise funds for the Harry Perkins Institute.
Now to address the obvious question: "Are you joking? ! "
A 200km bike ride...by a bald , 63 year old, slightly unfit (okay-overweight) bloke who has not ridden a bike since his kids were young?
Short answer: Yes, I'm completely serious.
I've set two major goals for this challenge:
1) To raise at least $2500 (and anything above that would be incredible).
2)To actually finish the 200km ride-which, I suspect, will require a decent amount of moral support, encouragement, and the occasional gentle reminder that this was my idea, to help me get through the hours of training.
So why am I doing this?
Like many of you, cancer has touched my life through family and friends. Sadly, we've lost some very special people, but thankfully, many others have fought through and are now survivors. It's because of ongoing research and medical advances that more and more people are getting that chance -and that's something worth riding for.
My biggest inspiration comes from those who have faced cancer head-on. The courage it takes from diagnosis through to treatment, whether that's chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Watching loved ones go through that journey is tough, and it gives a whole new perspective on what "hard" really means.
Compared to that, riding 200km...well, it puts things into perspective.
This is my small way in giving back and helping fund the research that gives future families more hope.
Thank you all for your support- it genuinely means a lot (and I'll be counting on it when the legs start complaining).

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
