My ‘WHY’ for doing the MACA 200km Ride for Cancer
Why I’m Riding 200km for Cancer Research
I’ve officially started training for the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research, a 200km cycling challenge that’s more than just a physical test — it’s a ride for hope, healing, and change.
This cause is deeply personal for me. As a melanoma survivor, I know firsthand the fear and uncertainty a cancer diagnosis brings. I’ve also watched my dad face bowel cancer with immense courage and strength. Only last year in 2024 I climbed Mount Kosciusko and dedicated the climb to my dear friends mum who was battling Bile Duct Cancer, and this year lost that fight. The impact of cancer on a family doesn’t stop at the diagnosis — it touches every part of life, emotionally and physically, for both the person going through treatment and the people who love them.
Through this ride, I’m raising funds for groundbreaking cancer research and vital support services that are changing lives. Every dollar raised goes towards helping those battling all types of cancer, especially rare and complex cases where research and support are critically needed.
This 200km is for every family who’s had to navigate the painful uncertainty of cancer.
If you feel moved to support, I’d be incredibly grateful for your donation. No amount is too small — and together, we can make a difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.
Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.
On Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 October 2025, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.
100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.
The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.
I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?
Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.
Together, we can beat cancer!
