Never ridden a road bike but riding 200km for: ''die ouwe''
On 17–18 October I'm riding 200km for cancer research. I've never ridden a road bike in my life.
Being Dutch, you'd think bikes come naturally. But a road bike, 100km a day, two days in a row? That's new. I'm training on a borrowed bike and I'm going to feel every kilometre.
Why I'm doing it
I'm riding for my partner Danielle, in honour of her dad, "die ouwe", who we lost to cancer. And for everyone who has lost someone, been through the fight, or is still fighting today.
For die ouwe: we still think about you, we still talk about you, and we definitely haven't forgotten you. One day we'll have another beer together.
Where your money goes
Every dollar goes to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, right here in WA & Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
The goal: $10,000
I stepped into Scott's spot on the Scaf-west team, together with the amazing $4,700 his supporters had already raised. Thank you to every one of you. Now I want to take it all the way to $10,000.
The dare: if we hit $10K, I ride the full 200km in full Dutch orange.
Big or small, every bit counts. And if you can't donate, sharing this page helps just as much. ❤️
