A Ride I Never Expected to Become So Personal ❤️

When I signed up for the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research, I saw it as a huge personal challenge — 200 km on a bike, months of training, and the opportunity to raise money for an incredibly worthwhile cause.
I never imagined that before I reached the start line, cancer would make this journey so deeply personal.
I recently lost my sister to a rare and aggressive cancer. From diagnosis, everything happened far too quickly. She fought incredibly hard and showed so much strength and courage right until the very end, but ultimately we lost her far too soon.
There are so many things you wish for when someone you love is fighting cancer. Another treatment. Better news. A breakthrough. But more than anything, you just wish for more time.
That is what this ride means to me now.
Every 5am alarm, every cold and dark morning, every hill and every training kilometre has a different purpose. And when I eventually line up for those 200 km, my sister will be with me for every one of them.
I can't change what happened to her. But I can ride in her memory and help support the research that may change what happens to someone else's sister, brother, mum, dad or loved one.
So I'll keep getting on the bike. I'll keep putting in the kilometres. And I'll be incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to be part of this journey with me.
❤️ I wish I could have had more time with you, Sis. These 200 kilometres are for you.
I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.
Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.
In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.
100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.
The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.
I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?
Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.
Together, we can beat cancer!
