I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

So, I’ve decided that I’m doing the Cancer 200 ride in October 2026, something that I’ve been planning for a few years. For the unacquainted, it’s a 200 km (125 mile) ride that takes place over two days, running from Perth to Mandurah, with a pitstop overnight, then back again.

Why am I doing it? Well, I love riding a bike, always have done. Also, this is such an important charity. Like every person on the planet, cancer has touched my life. I’ve lost two people that meant a lot to me, my father-in-law (Dave) who was only 55 and my grandad (Edward David); my sons middle name is David in memory of them both. My Mum had a recent early diagnosis that responded well to treatment at the end of last year. My aunty Jack, uncle Johnny, and my step mother-in-law Diane had their battles, all of which were won due to the amazing treatment that they received in both the UK and here in Australia.

The point being that we all know people, often close family and friends, sometimes us, sometimes people that feature in our daily lives. The effort of 200km is infinitely small compared to the benefit of charity to help address this disease.
