Riding for More Than the Finish Line: My MACA Cancer 200 Journey
Every ride starts with a reason. For me, the MACA Cancer 200 is more than a long day in the saddle or a test of physical endurance—it’s a personal commitment to hope, resilience, and a future shaped by medical breakthroughs.
This year, I’m taking on the MACA Cancer 200 to raise funds for the Perkins Foundation, whose world‑class researchers are relentlessly working to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Cancer has touched nearly every family in some way, and chances are you—or someone close to you—has felt its impact firsthand. That reality is what turns every kilometre of this ride into something meaningful.
Why I Ride
The MACA Cancer 200 is tough. It’s meant to be. Long distances, tired legs, early starts, and moments where quitting feels easier than carrying on. But that challenge pales in comparison to what cancer patients and their families face every single day. When the ride gets hard, I remind myself that discomfort is temporary—but the outcomes of research can change lives forever.
Why the Perkins Foundation Matters
The Perkins Foundation supports the Perkins Institute of Medical Research, home to some of the brightest minds in cancer research. Donations don’t just fund laboratories—they fund hope. Hope for earlier detection. Hope for better treatments. Hope for more birthdays, more memories, and more time with the people we love.
Every breakthrough starts with support. Every discovery begins because someone believed progress was possible.
Raising Money, Riding with Purpose
By supporting my ride, you’re not just helping me get to the finish line—you’re helping accelerate research that saves lives. Your donation fuels innovation, empowers researchers, and gives patients something invaluable: options.
No contribution is too small. Every dollar matters. Every message of encouragement matters. Together, those gestures carry me forward when my legs are tired and the road seems endless.
On the Day of the Ride
When dawn breaks and the road stretches out ahead, I’ll be riding with every supporter beside me in spirit. I’ll be riding for the families still fighting, for those celebrating remission, and for those we remember. I’ll be riding with gratitude—for the generosity that makes research possible and for the community that rallies when it matters most.
Join Me
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply cheer me on, thank you. Your support means more than words can express. Together, we can turn effort into impact, kilometres into cures, and determination into real change.
This ride is for cancer research. This ride is for the future. And this ride is for everyone who believes that we can—and will—do better.
I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.
Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.Â
In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.
100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.
The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.
I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?
Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.
Together, we can beat cancer!
