We did it team โ€” we made it to $4,000! โค๏ธ

We did it team, we made it to $4,000! And that means that together, over my three years of riding for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, we have now raised more than $10,000!

โ€œOverwhelmedโ€ is an understatement. I am genuinely moved by everyoneโ€™s generosity, support and encouragement throughout this journey. Every donation, every message and every person who has supported me has helped me get to this point.

Your collective donations help fund vital cancer research, including research hours, critical supplies, laboratory costs, protection for precious tissue samples and protective equipment for the researchers working tirelessly to find better treatments and, ultimately, cures.

Since 1998, the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research has made significant discoveries into the diseases that affect so many of our families, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

More than 200 researchers, scientists and clinicians work across two state-of-the-art research facilities in Western Australia. The Perkins is committed to giving those we know and love the opportunity to live longer, healthier and better lives by helping WAโ€™s medical researchers tackle some of the worldโ€™s toughest diseases.

Research teams dedicated to finding answers and defeating cancer have been generously supported through the MACA Cancer 200 for the past 15 years, and I feel incredibly proud to be a small part of that.

The training

I thought I might also share some of my current fitness stats, because let me tell you โ€” 200 kilometres is no easy bike ride! I know that from experience! ๐Ÿ˜‚

With a combination of walking, running, riding and swimming, I have clocked up 3,001 kilometres in preparation for this event so far. Every kilometre has been about getting my body ready for the challenge that awaits me.

My sidekick Rosie ๐Ÿพ has spent many hours walking and running alongside me. We have so much fun getting out into the bush together, and she has certainly kept me company through all those kilometres.

Family and friends have also joined me along the way, walking beside me, encouraging me and helping keep me accountable when I probably would have preferred to stay on the couch!

My Why โค๏ธ

Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart, for your incredible support.

I can't wait to get to that start line on Saturday, October 17th, with my bike decorated in commemoration of the people we love and those we have sadly lost to cancer.

When the kilometres get tough, Iโ€™ll look at those faces and remember exactly why I ride.

We may not find a cure for everyone, but through research, we can help give people something incredibly precious:

More time.

And sometimes, more time is the greatest gift of all. โค๏ธ

$3,500 and still counting!!! Can we get to $4000?

Only 3 days ago, I updated my post saying that I wanted to increase my fundraising goal to $3,000.

Within hours of that update, I had a workmate donate $100 after seeing my poster at my desk. Then another colleague handed me $400 cash in memory of her friend who passed away from leukemia last year.

I honestly couldn't believe it!

When I was looking over my fundraising dashboard, I noticed that the next goal could easily be another $500. That's definitely achievable, but let's give it an even bigger reason...

If I can raise another $500 in less than 8 weeks, I'll have raised over $10,000 for cancer research across my 3 years of participating in this truly amazing event.

That's a milestone I never imagined I'd reach when I first signed up.

I am clearly surrounded by some incredibly generous people, many of whom have also been impacted by cancer in different ways. This year, I've once again asked people to share photos of their loved ones โ€” those we've lost to cancer, or those who are newly diagnosed โ€” so I can carry their stories with me and share the ride with them.

They become my "why I ride."

So, here we go... let's see if we can get this to $4,000! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’—

Every donation, every story, every photo and every word of encouragement means more than you know.

Thank you just doesn't seem enough. โค๏ธ

$3000 and counting!!!

I'm in complete aweย of just how generous all my family and friends have been towards my ride. I've increased my initial fundraising goal twice now!!!

I reached my first goal of $2,500 back in June, and I've now raised the bar to $3,500. The donations keep coming in, and it fills my heart with such warmth.

The poster on my work desk about my ride sparks many conversations. Not only about the 200-kilometre distance or asking how much pain I'll be in, but also the tougher conversations about loved ones who have been lost to cancer, or those newly diagnosed with a not-so-clear future ahead of them.

Dreams and wishes that suddenly get put on hold so the fight can begin against a disease that, most of the time, you can't even see.

Your stories become the "why I ride."

I've appreciated all the photos you've shared of your loved ones. I will proudly display them on my bike over that weekend, to remind me to push that little bit harder and to support their new journey.

We may not always find a cure, but we do find more time โ€” and that is the most precious gift of all.

Thank you just doesn't seem enough. โค๏ธ

Iโ€™m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Iโ€™m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesnโ€™t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, Iโ€™m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, a research centre based right here in WA.

This is my 3rd consecutive year riding 200kms over 2 days! Itโ€™s not hard to find a reason to ride, but in case you wanted to know; this is why I rideโ€ฆ

I ride for those who have recently been diagnosed.

I ride for those who will have their world turned upside down today.

I ride for those who never got their tomorrowโ€™s.

I ride for those who got the got the news โ€œitโ€™s all clear, the cancers goneโ€

I ride for those who get to celebrate another Motherโ€™s Day or Fatherโ€™s Day.

I ride for those who have this Christmas as a goal.

I ride for those whose fight has just begun.

I ride for my loved ones and

I ride for your loved ones,

I ride for you

Every dollar I raise pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continuesโ€“ no matter what.

ย 100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of enduranceโ€”itโ€™s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. 200 kilometres over 2 days, riding from Optus Stadium through to Mandurah and back. Your kind donation can turn this belief into reality.

I canโ€™t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal? The benchmark is $2,500. Any amount counts and all donations over $2 are tax deductible. Think about it, your weekly spend on takeaway coffees, could help fund future cures.

Your support in any way is truly appreciated.

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
