This year will be my fifth and final Cancer 200 ride, and my last as Captain of Team MinRes.

When people ask why I ride, the answer is simple. Cancer touches all of us. Every rider, volunteer, supporter and donor has a reason for being involved, and that shared purpose is what makes Cancer 200 such a remarkable event. It is far more than a bike ride. It is a community coming together to support research, treatment and care that genuinely changes lives.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of leading Team MinRes. What started as a group of colleagues taking on a challenge has grown into a team that consistently shows what can be achieved when people come together for something bigger than themselves. I could not be prouder of what the team has accomplished, not only in the funds raised, but in the spirit, commitment and support shown to one another along the way.

As I step away from the event and hand over the captaincy, I do so with complete confidence that the team will continue to thrive. Fresh eyes, fresh ideas and new leadership will ensure Team MinRes continues to grow and make an impact for many years to come.

To everyone who rides, volunteers, donates, supports from the sidelines or simply helps spread the message, thank you. You are the reason this event continues to make such a difference.

This year marks my fifth time riding in the MACA Cancer 200, and I keep coming back for one simple reason: I want to help make cancer a non‑terminal diagnosis.

Too many of us have seen how cancer changes lives — not just for those diagnosed, but for families, friends and entire communities. Through this ride, I’m proud to support world‑class research at the Harry Perkins Institute right here in WA, helping develop kinder treatments, better outcomes and real hope for the future.

Every kilometer ridden and every dollar raised brings us closer to a world where a cancer diagnosis no longer means the end of the story
