Two Wheels, One Cause: My MACA 200 Journey Begins

There’s something both exciting and terrifying about signing up for something you’ve never done before — especially when it involves 200 kilometres of cycling and a $2,500 fundraising goal!

Next year, I’ll be taking part in my very first MACA Cancer 200 Ride for Research, an incredible event that raises vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Every kilometre we ride represents hope — for better treatments, for breakthroughs, and for the families fighting cancer every day.

This isn’t just a physical challenge for me; it’s a personal one. Over the years, I’ve seen the impact cancer can have — on colleagues, friends, and families. The ride is my way of doing something tangible. Two days, 200 kilometres, and one cause that affects us all.

Now, I’ll be honest — I’m not exactly a seasoned cyclist (yet!). My usual training involves running and chasing golf balls, not pedalling for hours at a time. But like anything worth doing, I’m starting with a plan, a purpose, and a lot of enthusiasm (plus a healthy fear of sore legs).

Over the next few months, I’ll be sharing my journey here — the training rides, the challenges, the inevitable rookie mistakes, and the small wins along the way. I’ll also be fundraising to hit that $2,500 target. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference and helps keep the wheels of research turning.

If you’d like to support me or follow along on the journey, I’d love to have you on board. Together, we can turn sweat into something powerful — hope.

Follow my training updates: Stay tuned for stories, progress updates, and probably a few photos of me questioning my life choices halfway up a hill.

Here’s to new challenges, stronger legs, and a cause worth every pedal stroke.

I’m on a mission to defeat cancer.

Cancer doesn’t just affect one person, it shakes up families, friends and communities. This year, I will be taking a stand against it.

In October 2026, I’m joining a community of passionate riders to cycle 200km to raise vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Every dollar pushes us closer to breakthroughs at the Perkins where brilliant researchers work tirelessly to find life-saving answers for some of the toughest cancers. But they also need our help to ensure their vital progress continues– no matter what.

100% of the funds we raise will go back to the Perkins giving cancer researchers the support to continue their life-saving work so that our loved ones can live longer, healthier lives.

The Ride is more than just a test of endurance—it’s about unity. I'll ride alongside an incredible group of people who believe, as I do, that cancer can be conquered. Your support can turn this belief into reality.

I can’t do this alone. Will you help me to reach this goal?

Whether you join me on the Ride or support my fundraising, your generosity could be the key to saving our loved ones from this disease.

Together, we can beat cancer!
